On what do you base the hypothesis that people would interact more if they used less technology? You say that people are not "inclined" (I'm assuming you mean involved) in the conversations around them when they are on their cellphones, but what makes you think they would be involved if they were off of them? I love the video! Great song choice and creative approach to the project...more than just writing a summary about what it was like to live a day without a phone. Good job making the connection to social capital at the end when you said that if people aren't involved in the friends around them and more involved in a text message conversation, then they must not have very much social capital. -Erica
Great job for being able to go without your phone for so long, it would be nice if the whole world had a no cell phone day, i wonder how that would go. You guys made a greta connection between your lab and how it was related to social capital, awesome guys.
I loved how you took pictures of others using their phones while you went without yours. This pictures really bring the fact we are on our phones constantly to reality. -Shea
I really like how you guys went through one day, different times of the day and different activities. It was nice to see the variety of situations in which we use our phones. -Myra
I like this, but sometimes I think that cell phones actually do give some social capital. It's not like you are talking to a robot. You're still interacting with someone socially...
WOH IM IN IT!
ReplyDeleteThis is creative. I like the approach you took toward this lab. It is very creative.

ReplyDeleteThis was really cool. People do get distracted by their phones a lot. If we didn't have phones are community would be a lot more stronger.

Interesting. Are you implying that people would do better in school if they didn't have cell phones? Nice Lab.-William
